New York City Radio City Hall was the gathering place for music stars to showcase their talents and collect awards at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards. The evening was filled with glitz, glamour, unpredictable twists and laughs, and fantastic music (of course).

Paul "Pauly D" Delvechhio and Vinny Guadagnino from "Jersey Shore Family Vacation" hosted the pret-show. Unfortunately, the show has dropped in viewers in recent years, even though the evening proved to be full of fun and talent.

Jennifer Lopez received the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, being the first latina artist to do so. Madonna gave a controversial tribute to Aretha Franklin, who had just died four days before the awards show. It was controversial, because critics claimed Madonna focused more on herself than on Aretha.

Cardi B won more nominations than anyone else (12) was selected to open the show. She and Childish Gambino each won three awards during the evening, more than anyone else. Camila Cabellow won "Video of the Year" and "Artist of the Year" for her popular song and video "Havana."
